Day 1

Arrive at Tunis or Monastir Airport and transfer to your hotel in Tunis or Sousse for dinner and overnight stay in 4* hotel.

Day 2 : Tunis / Bardo / Carthage / Sidi Bou Said

Today you will spend the day discovering the World Heritage Site Tunis Medina, the Bardo Museum with its spectacular collection of Roman mosaics, the Antonine baths at Carthage and the delightful hillside town of Sidi Bou Said with its superb views over the Bay of Tunis. From there it’s back to your hotel for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3 : Dougga / Thurburbo Majus / Kairouan

After breakfast you head for Dougga, the best preserved Roman site in Tunisia, set in the foothills of the Atlas Mountains. After lunch you continue to the smaller yet still interesting site of Thuburbo Majus, before heading for the holy city of Kairouan for dinner and your overnight stay.

Day 4 : Kairouan / Sbeitla / Tozeur

You start the day with a visit to the historic monuments in this ancient city, including the Great Mosque, the Mausoleum of Sidi Sahbi, the Aghlabide pools and the Medina. Continue to Sbeïtla for lunch followed by a visit to the magnificent ruins, before heading south to Tozeur for dinner and overnight stay. After dinner you have the opportunity to visit the Dar Cheraiet Museum with its collection of traditional costumes and jewellery.

Day 5 : Tozeur / Metlaoui / Red Lizard Train / Douz

After breakfast you are taken to Metlaoui where you pick up the Red Lizard train for an unforgettable train ride into the Gorges of Selja. Back to Tozeur for lunch and then you will cross the immense salt lake Chott El Jerid en route for Douz, the ‘gateway to the Sahara’. Here there is the option of a camel ride into the desert, before arriving at your hotel for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 6 : Douz / Matmata / Djerba

The day starts with a drive to Matmata with its lunar landscape and homes built into the earth. You will have a chance to visit a troglodyte dwelling before continuing to Djerba – the ‘island of dreams’ for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 7 : Djerba / Gabes / El Jem / Sousse

From Djerba you travel to the coastal town of Gabes with its colourful spice market, then continue to Sfax for lunch. After lunch you will continue north to the town of El Jem for a visit to its outstanding Roman coliseum. Continue to Sousse for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 8

Transfer to the airport for your return flight.
