Day 1 : DJERBA

Arrival at Djerba airport, transfer to hotel for dinner and overnight stay in hotel in Djerba.

Day 2 : DJERBA

A half day tour of this fascinating island with a visit to the capital Houmt Souk where you will have time to explore its delightful souks and squares. Then on to visit the synagogue and potteries at the village of Guellela. You will be back to the hotel in time for lunch. Dinner and overnight stay in Djerba.

Day 3 : Djerba / Medenine / Tataouine / Ksar Ghilane

Leaving the island by the Roman road you will head for Medenine where you will have a chance to visit the Ghorfas (old Berber granaries/houses). From there it is on to Tataouine and a visit to the surrounding Berber villages. Lunch in Tataouine. After lunch you will cross the desert to Ksar Ghilane oasis. Dinner and overnight stay in camping (shared Bedouin tents and communal washing & WC facilities).

Day 4 : Ksar Ghilane / Douz

In the morning you have the choice of an optional camel ride and visit to the area surrounding the oasis. Lunch at Paradise camping before departing for Douz where you can visit the town they call ‘the gateway to the Sahara’. Dinner and overnight stay in Douz.

Day 5 : Douz / Tozeur / Nefta / Tozeur

Depart for Tozeur via Noueil, Faouar, Sabria and Chott El Jerid. Check in to hotel in Tozeur and lunch. In the afternoon you have the chance to visit the nearly oasis town of Nefta and explore Tozeur’s beautiful old town. There is the option of a horse drawn carriage ride around the palm oasis. Dinner and overnight stay in Tozeur. After dinner in your hotel there is an evening visit to the Dar Cheraiet Museum.

Day 6 : Tozeur / Chebika / Tamerza / Ong Jemel/ Tozeur

This morning you will discover the lovely mountain oases of Chebika and Tamerza. After lunch at your hotel the afternoon offers an excursion to Ong Jemel to visit the Star Wars Phantom Menace film set. Dinner and overnight stay in Tozeur.

Day 7 : Tozeur / Gabes / Matmata / Djerba

Today you will head back east to Gabes where you will be able to visit the Jara spice Market. From there it’s on to Matmata for lunch followed by a chance to a troglodyte dwelling. The journey back to Djerba will be made by ferry crossing at Jorf Ajim. Dinner and overnight stay in Djerba.

Day 8 : Djerba

Departure transfer for return flight (direct or via connection in Tunis)
